MLB Should 100% Make A "Quarterback" Type Show And I've Put Together A List Of Players They Should Include In It

With the news that the NBA was creating a "Quarterback" type show, it got me thinking. It's kind of insane that MLB hasn't done something like this already and now is the perfect time to kick start one. Naturally I got to thinking about who MLB should pick and there are some clear cut favorites. Following with what the NFL and NBA did with their series, you need a bonafide superstar. "Quarterback" gave us Patrick Mahomes and the NBA one is throwing us Lebron James and Jayson Tatum. Decent star power there. You also have young talent with Anthony Edwards. And then you've got some normal veterans who are good players with Jimmy Butler and the NFL gave us Kirk Cousins. Solid groups all around and I've got my picks for 5 MLB guys they should follow around for a season. A 100% open and behind the scenes look at these guys would make for a great show as well as help out baseball in a big way. 

Mike Trout

No-brainer here. Absolute no-brainer. MLB needs to put Mike Trout front and center and let the world FINALLY know what Trout is about. We know he likes the Eagles and not requesting trades from the Angels. That's it. Mic up Mike and let us see who he is at home. 

Let us see him with his family. Would love to hear him after a game, during warm ups, chatting on the base paths, in the clubhouse. Give us that and actually showcase Mike Trout while we still have him. He's arguably the best player of our generation and time is running out. Injuries are hitting him hard and he's on the back 9 of his career, but I think baseball fans would still like a look into the life of Mike Trout. It would be nice to hear what his voice sounds like, I don't know if anyone has heard it. Give us some behind the scenes Trouty while we still have him. NFL gave us Mahomes, NBA gave us Lebron as the star, only right that Trout joins those two. 

Pete Alonso

I think we all are VERY curious into the life of Pete Alonso. We know him as the home run derby winning psycho weird guy on the field, but I think we'd like to hear and see what he's like off the field. Maybe he's still a nutcase, maybe he's not. Plus seeing what this guy does in the weight room would be a treat, he's insanely strong and we see that every year to the tune of 40 homers. 

It's a strange year for him too. Free agent to be, trade speculation all off-season, Frank barking down his throat, this could be a very interesting year for Alonso and the Mets. Them covering him and having him mic'd in the middle of a trade would be fascinating. I bet he'd give some really, really good content. Plus then we could hear what the guys do say about Frank in the clubhouse and dugout. 

Kyle Bradish

Kyle Bradish is the best player that you haven't really heard about yet. I've heard about him because I'm an Orioles fan, but to a casual baseball fan they may just not know how good Bradish is. This guy finished 4th in baseball in ERA and also finished 4th in Cy Young voting in the AL. He could walk into your kitchen and you wouldn't know who he was, but after this year you will. 

A behind the scenes look at a relatively young guy coming off a career year would be fascinating. His first real taste of success at the big league level, what's it like to have this career year and then go into the next season as that ace? He's going to have expectations this season, high ones. Will be cool to hear from this relatively quiet stud. It would be a nice introduction to the fans who Kyle Bradish. 

Joey Votto

Joey Votto was put on this earth for 2 reasons. To be mic'd up and to be an awesome baseball player. Currently a free agent, it would be neat to see what a guy like Votto, probably in his last year, goes through as he navigates free agency. Wouldn't get the full dialogue from the contract negotiaons but it would still be neat to see what a guy in his shoes goes through when meeting with teams. And since he's a free agent he's got a lot of free time too. 

His off the field stuff will 100% be more entertaining than his on the field stuff. He's a legit hilarious person, he would KILL it. He goes and plays in chess leagues and stuff, he rides the train back home,  he would be so damn entertaining. He'd be everyones favorite if they got him on camera. And just seeing a legend in his final days on the field would be cool to see. Everything that goes down in your final days on the job, some fun stuff. 

Julio Rodriguez

Julio is the knock it out of the park fun young guy. Maybe the most exciting player in baseball, he's a special talent. He's very entertaining off the field, always at the other sporting events in Seattle and all that. He's a beast, when you see his personality you'd know why this kid is going to be star. 23-years old and on the cusp of superstardom, he'd great to watch mic'd up in a game when he's making some sick game saving catch or demolishing a go-ahead homer. He's the face of a young and exciting Mariners team and has 0 problem showing emotion. He'd be perfect in front of a camera getting followed around for a season seeing how one of the young faces of baseball is up close. He's the perfect representative for the young kids in the game. 

I think these 5 could make a very entertaining "Quarterback" type show. You've got young, you've got old, you've got Hall of Famers and you've got third year stars. This cast has it all. A few of the honorable mentions were Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr., Oneil Cruz, Shane Bieber, José Ramirez and Bo Bichette. Baseball has some great personalities but unfortunately we don't always get to see them shine. Getting to know these guys and what they do when they're chilling after a game or in the clubhouse would be really cool. Give us that behind the scenes looks at some of baseballs youngest, brightest, and funniest stars.
