An Ode To Carmen Electra After Finding Out She's Attempting To Legally Change Her Name

We're gonna get a little nostalgic this afternoon, folks. I saw the news that Carmen Electra is changing her name to ... Carmen Electra. First off, how was that not done already? She's been Carmen Electra for as long as we've been watching her excel in Baywatch. Now, sure, her real name is Tara Leigh Patrick. That's far too many first names to be a legal name. Also Carmen Electra just confirms that you will always be hot. You can't be an ugly Carmen Electra. Point: 

I always wondered how someone picks a completely different name. I mean, sure, here at Barstool we go by aliases. I picked Reags since that's a nickname based on my real name when I thought that would keep me hidden as I worked a real job. Carmen Electra has no ties to Tara Leigh Patrick. Luckily a man named Prince took a break from basketball to help us out and give the world Carmen Electra

After the pop legend saw the then aspiring artist dance, he suggested a name change. "I auditioned for an all girl group that he was putting together and he ended up signing me to his label Paisley Park," Carmen told The Yo Show. "After I danced for him he said, 'You look like Electra. That should be your name.'"

Man is a genius! Forget the songs, forget the popularity and stardom he had. He gave us Electra. Carmen Patrick? Sure she may pop up from time to time but there's not a Barstool Carmen Electra Day, that's for sure. That was a great day. 

I know it's common place to go by a stage name, but none may have played a more important role for us in our late 30s than Carmen Electra. She was tied to it all. TV? Baywatch is one of the most influential shows in the world. Sports? Ever hear of her and Dennis Rodman? Duh. Music? Yep, she was in relationships there too. Plus we had the Carmen Electra poster. I don't think we'd ever have a Tara Leigh Patrick poster, but Carmen Electra? A staple in colleges everywhere during the early 2000s. 

51 years old and from Cincinnati, Ohio? That's how you become a star, baby. Oh and what's she up to now? How about a little photoshoot with Drea De Matteo in honor of the Soprano's 25th anniversary today
