Netflix Is Creating An NBA Version Of Their "Quarterback" Show Starring LeBron, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, And Domantas Sabonis

Given how successful the NFL's "Quarterback" show was, I feel like it was only a matter of time before we got a Shams/Woj bomb like this that announced the NBA was now going to do the same thing. Why wouldn't you? It was awesome. I know there are some who shit on it as a way to be edgy and different, but as someone who thoroughly enjoyed the NFL version, I could not be more excited for this. I've said for a long time that if you give me any sort of basketball documentary or behind the scenes footage I'm "IN" on it without even seeing a single frame, and now that we have our list of players the NBA will be using, my excitement has reached an even higher level.

Obviously I'm excited to see all the Tatum stuff, but to me this is a perfect mix of players and personalities. You have LeBron of course who you knew wasn't going to pass up an opportunity like this, you have two of the futures of the league in Tatum and Edwards, you have this psycho competitor in Jimmy Butler, and you have Sabonis who is kind of like the Kirk Cousins of this group. A nice guy, a good player who you maybe aren't sure if you can build your franchise around if your goal is to win the title who plays for a franchise inching to get over the hump etc. To me that's a perfect balance of what a fan should want to see.

My next question when I saw that tweet was when this would actually happen. This season? Next season? Well Sham's follow up tweet let us know

This is what I was hoping for. Give me all the behind the scenes footage of the best team in the NBA as they navigate the most important season in recent Celtics history. Let me see how Edwards deals with making the leap into true contention for the first place Wolves. Let me see the Lakers implosion through the eyes of LeBron. All of these players are on teams with very intriguing teams at different stages of contention, so for this to already be in progress is awesome news. For a season that seems more wide open than ever, I'm happy we don't have to wait.

I know that after the first season of the NFL version they had a tough time convincing future players to do it, but I don't think we'll have that problem in the NBA. NBA players love this shit. I also think because of how different their seasons are and the fact that one is 18 games and the other is 82 games, we won't hear the same sort of complaints about it being a distraction or anything like that. Plenty of NBA teams already do their own version of a behind the scenes type series throughout the season, and my guess is this one will be just as awesome as the NFL version so I can't see future stars not wanting to be involved. There are so many awesome options to choose from, that's part of what makes the NBA so awesome right now. The talent is ridiculous.

So while I'm sure there will be some out there that shit on this version as well because that's what people like to do when it comes to the NBA, for anyone who likes basketball and the league, this is tremendous news. 

And while I don't want to jinx it, I will sell years off my life if it means I get to see a behind the scenes look at Jayson Tatum winning his first title like we saw with Mahomes and his SB win. I don't ask for much, but I would very much like to be able to watch that.
