Connor Bedard Officially Out For 8 Weeks After Surgery On His Fractured Jaw And EVERYTHING SUCKS IN THIS TOWN
Obviously not breaking news because we all saw that he broke his jaw, but it still sucks to know that our star boy, the only real reason to have hope about anything in this city is going to be out for two months. That dumbass groundhog is going to see his shadow before we see a glimmer of hope in Chicago.
I rely on the Blackhawks to get me through the winter. I have something to do like 3 nights a week. Something to enjoy. It's dark at 4pm, but Bedard gave me a rays of hope coming through my 55" TV. Now we probably won't see him until March. And honestly, I wouldn't even consider bringing him back early. I don't care if the doctors clear him medically. If he has to wear a cage then he shouldn't be playing. Heal up. Accumulate lottery balls. Get ready for 2024-25
Two potential positives...
1) I have LOVED the effort the two games. A bunch of lunch pail guys who are fighting for their NHL careers. They're not good, but they're endearing. I think that, in a strange way, is good for the culture. Set a further tone of work ethic.
2) When Bedard broke his arm as a kid he basically came back with his superhuman release. The shot that made him so dynamic. What's he going to work on while he's out with a broken jaw? He's probably just going to live in the weight room for 8 weeks. A blowup mattress in the squat rack at 5th/3rd while he's on a diet of protein shakes. Then goes down on the ice and takes 1000 face-offs a day against Yanick Perrault. I bet he comes back around St Patrick's Day with like 10 more pounds of muscle mass ready to win 70% of his draws.
