Jim Harbaugh Said Michigan Is Moving Spring Practice Back a Month, Fueling Speculation He'll Stay in Ann Arbor

Jim Harbaugh made an interesting comment on SportsCenter following Michigan's national title win on Monday night, saying the Wolverines would move spring practice back a month in 2024. The clearly calculated scheduling tidbit led many people to speculate Harbaugh was sending a coded message about staying in Ann Arbor rather than leaving for the NFL.

The soundbite definitely grabbed the attention Harbaugh was hoping it would, but it's also worth noting he was non-committal in answering questions about his future leading up to the game against Washington and even last night.

The spring practice line seems like a weird one to pull out if you're going to turn around and bolt for the NFL in the next few days, but if Harbaugh is planning on staying, why not just say that when directly asked about it? He's had ample opportunity to simply state that he's staying at Michigan, yet he's refused to do so. It does seem like this comment at least makes Harbaugh's future more up in the air than it was even a few days ago, when I'd say it was pretty much a foregone conclusion he was leaving for the NFL regardless of the outcome of Monday night's game.

My biggest takeaway from this entire thing, though, is that Michigan had spring practice scheduled for February? The season is barely over and it's cold as shit in Ann Arbor. Odd choice.

Regardless, Harbaugh has the entire Michigan fanbase waiting with bated breath on his next move. He brought his alma mater back to the promised land, but was that all she wrote?
