Draymond Green Suggests That Adam Silver Had To Talk Him Out Of Retirement Because Of All The Drama Surrounding His Suspension

Now that Draymond Green's suspension has ended and the Warriors try and pick up the pieces of their season after getting destroyed by the Raptors last night to fall to a brutal 17-19 and 11th in the West, you knew it was only a matter of time before we got his side of the story. However much of his side you believe is another discussion, but that's exactly what we got via Draymond's podcast

Of all the nuggets Draymond dropped, this little part about Adam Silver certainly stood out

"I told him, 'Adam this is too much for me. … This is too much. It's all becoming too much for me -- and I'm going to retire.' And Adam said, 'You're making a very rash decision and I won't let you do that.'

OK wait a minute. Did I forget something or were all of these suspensions a result of actions committed by….Draymond Green? The simple request of not kicking players in the dick, or choking them out, or punching them in the face, was too much for Draymond to handle so he threatened to just retire? There's no way that can be true. Draymond is in Year 1 of this extension

and I'm to believe he was ready to walk away from all that simply because there was too much drama or things may have been too stressful as a result of his own actions? When it's VERY easy to not be in these positions when all you have to do is stop playing dirty? Sorry, that feels a little insane to me.

I'm not sure if this was his intention, but trying to frame Draymond as the victim in these situations is even more bizarre. It's not like he was reacting to someone who started shit with him, these are all incidents that could have easily been avoided, but it's clear that for years now Draymond has been enabled to do whatever he wants. To be surprised that there's drama and bullshit that come with repeatedly punching/choking people is such a lack of self awareness I am almost forced to respect it.

Think about it. What an insane idea that a player should have to face the consequences of his own actions and be held accountable when he repeatedly does things you are very clearly not allowed to do on a basketball court. To go right to the retirement angle instead of just ya know, playing by the rules, makes this situation 1000x funnier. I have to give Draymond credit, he went the PR route getting the word out to Woj before the apology podcast dropped, and remember this is the same guy who put out an entire documentary when it came to punching his own teammate

where he sort of played the same victim card that we're seeing in this year's version, so maybe this is just par for the course when it comes to Draymond having an altercation, getting suspended, and then making content out of it.

But suggesting that you were about to retire from the NBA and it took Adam Silver to talk you off the ledge is just something I have a hard time believing. Especially when the root if all this drama and bullshit is an inability to keep you OWN hands to yourself. While I'm not in the NBA, I feel as though that should be something pretty easy to handle. Just don't pull shady shit, collect $100M. You don't even have to be good! The money is guaranteed! Just stop hitting players and there will be no more bullshit or drama from fans about you hitting players.

The good news is it seems the Warriors are doubling down on this aging core

which means they're probably about to trade their young developmental pieces. Surely that won't backfire once we get the next Draymond incident and we're doing this whole dance again in a couple months.
