Baker Mayfield didn't have a great game today, but he played well enough and the Buccaneers won their third straight division title today. That was key because Baker had an incentive in his contract that paid him an extra one million dollars if the Bucs won the division.

But that's not all. Mayfield had incentives where if he finished in the top 5 of the NFC and top 10 of the NFL in certain passing categories he'd get paid even more!

But let's also not overlook what an incredible diamond in the rough signing this was by GM Jason Licht and staff. Guys like John Spytek, Mike Biehl, Rob McCartney, Mike Greenberg and many others got a QB that won a division on a 1-year $4 million dollar base deal.

"Baker Mayfield signed a 1 year, $4,000,000 contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including a $2,875,000 signing bonus, $4,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $4,000,000. In 2023, Mayfield will earn a base salary of $1,125,000 and a signing bonus of $2,875,000, while carrying a cap hit of $1,700,000 and a dead cap value of $4,000,000." - via Spotrac

At the end of the day, the Bucs won their third straight division title with a roster some people like Rico Bosco picked to finish with the worst record in the NFL. But we proved the doubters wrong! See you in the playoffs!
