Wemby Is Now Throwing Himself Alley-Oops Off The Backboard And That Somehow Wasn't Even His Most Jaw-Dropping Play Tonight
One of the best parts about the NBA is things are always evolving. From how teams play, to what players are capable of doing, as more time goes by and more insane talent enters the league, it's only getting better and better. There will always be "back in my day" olds who love to complain about what NBA basketball looks like in 2024, but to them, I would say grow up and adapt to the times. You're missing some awesome shit.
Take Victor Wembanyama for example. One of our greatest examples of what the evolution of basketball currently looks like. Every time he steps on the floor there's potential for him to do something insane, whether it's a transition dunk like this
where he morphs into a mix MJ in Space Jam and Spurs and finger roll legend George Gervin, or what we got tonight down in SA against the Bucks
I mean what the hell. The recognition that something like this was even possible, the balls to actually try it, and then the final execution is all a 10 out of 10.
Now to quote JJ Redick, if you're a basketball sicko this play probably reminded you of something we witnessed not too long ago via another one of these basketball unicorns. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, please enjoy Chet Holmgren
I'm willing to concede that this may be a bit of an overreaction, but we all might be cooked. Wemby and Chet are so good already, doing shit at their size in real NBA games that you tend to only see in 2K or some shit, everyone else in the league better hurry up and try and get their titles because just imagine what things look like when each of these players even gets CLOSE to their NBA primes. Add to it that Chet is already making a massive winning impact on one of the best teams in the league, and I'm not sure that's too far fetched.
Oh and as I type this blog? Look at what else Wemby just pulled off!
Again I will say, what the hell.
Normally I feel like freaking out so much about everything Wemby does would eventually get played out, but it's actually the opposite. I can't talk about it enough. Every play seems to be more ridiculous than the next so what choice do I have? What we're watching with Wemby (and Chet) is unlike anything we've really ever seen, and they are doing it RIGHT AWAY.
If that doesn't impress you, I'm afraid you just have a gigantic dump in your pants
