Dave Chappelle Kicks Off His New Special With 12 Straight Minutes Of Trans Handicapped Jokes And People Are Not Happy About It

Source - Maybe it’s time for Dave Chappelle to try some new material.

The comedian’s newest special, “The Dreamer,” debuted on Netflix on Dec. 31, and largely focuses on his early years in entertainment and how he manifested his success. But he floods the first 12 minutes of the set revisiting his favorite target in recent years: Transgender people.

Chappelle opens the special by telling a story about visiting Jim Carrey while he was shooting the 1999 film “Man on the Moon,” where the actor famously went method on set while portraying comedian Andy Kaufman. Dave recalls being “very disappointed” that he spent the day speaking to Carrey pretending to be Kaufman, ending by saying, “That’s how trans people make me feel.”

The Video:

Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious and that joke was just the tip of the iceberg. If you do nothing from now until the end of day make sure you watch Chappelle's new special, The Dreamer, on Netflix. It is the most masterfully unafraid 55 minutes of comedy I have ever seen. Everything that everyone gave him shit for in his last special he brought up again and he did so perfectly. Trans people, handicapped people, white people, black people, Asian people, Russian people, poor people, rich people, gay people, straight people, himself, his wife, his friends. You name it, he joked about it...and that's exactly how it should be. I feel this is the show where he may have finally won the battle the joke police. He's clearly not going to stop doing what he's doing so there's no point in getting mad about it. At this point it's hacky to write about how any joke, let alone a Dave Chappelle joke, offends you. It's lazy journalism...much like #TwerkTuesday. I mean IMAGINE writing this sentence and not laughing...

From Variety: He then said he was going to transition to joking about “handicapped” people instead because “they’re not as organized as the gays. And I love punching down.”

It's impossible. And yet having said all that, people are still finding ways to get upset. Type in Dave Chappelle's name on Google and you'll see headline after headline about how he mocked and attacked certain groups of people. The good news is, there are far less of those headlines now than there were in the past, but there are still headlines. It's almost as if people are starting to realize that there are more important things to worry about than jokes. Oh and if his jokes sucked that would be one thing but they don't. Funny is funny, honey. You either get it or you don't. Thanks for reading.
