This Grinch Stealing The Presents Video From A Firehouse Christmas Party Goes Next Level Getting The Cops Involved ... And All For A Good Cause

We've all seen the "Grinch stealing the presents" video trend online in recent years. Take your pick on how which one you like the most.

All very funny, however the big problem is they never give a reveal to the kids at the end. These poor little bastards go to bed at night thinking Christmas is ruined. Or worse the parents do tell them everything was a joke to calm the kids down, to which the kids should ask what kind of sick maniac makes a kid go through that for likes on social media. A very fair question.

The best thing about this video is the immediate involvement that The Grinch got caught. Getting the cops involved was a next level move. Kids have to believe in things like Santa, the Easter Bunny and Magic to keep their innocence. Additionally, we should always be stressing values they can believe in like saying please and thank you, eating your vegetables, and good vs evil. Nothing is more Good vs Evil, and Good coming out on top than the cops locking up a Grinch who tried to ruin Christmas by robbing Santa in broad daylight. A job well done by The Broad Street Bullies as well as the cops down in the 120 Precinct for the elaborate work to keep kids spirits high. Kids likely went to school that Monday and are still telling stories about the Grinch catching a collar.

Speaking of keeping spirits high. This video came across me not because it went viral or was on my timeline, it got to me because it was the firehouse I worked in. I'm obviously not on the job anymore, but you always have communication with the house to make sure everyone is safe, who's been promoted, and overall how guys are doing. There's an old saying the job never leaves you and it's true, even if it's a small piece.

It's been a tough year on Broad Street, and the Christmas Party is always a way to distract guys from some of the tough breaks throughout the year. None tougher than one of the best guys in the house having to deal with a horrific illness. The party was a good distraction but the fact still remains the guys there are struggling watching their brother go through this, and no one is suffering more than the guy battling this illness.

Deo Lall is a guy who didn't say much but led more by example. If things needed to be squared away he showed you how, if you needed work learning a tool he helped you. He was a guy you could count on day and night to be prepared to work, work hard, and most importantly keep you safe. I found that last one out first hand October 7th, 2018.

I came in after a benefit in the morning which of course Deo was at leading by example, for what everyone assumed would be a routine night tour. That quickly changed at about 2am when a call came in for a fully involved fire. Out the door we went smelling the smoke a few blocks away as well as seeing the flames completely engulfing the house.

We had "a junior crew" as they say working in the Engine that night. The guy with the most time had 4 years on the job .. it was Deo. He was just 2 weeks out of chauffeur school, but as he always did working with him, he was never rattled and you would have thought he had 10 years driving with how flawlessly he did his job that night. Got us in a great position to attack with a line, communicated with the guy on the hydrant and hooked up the water fast so we could get in there. I was on the nozzle (head of the line). It was my last fire of my career. I burnt both my knees that night and was unable to return to work.

When I had to go to the hospital for a few days after, as well as operations down the road. Deo was the first guy to volunteer to help driving or show up to the hospital to check in. Never needed to be told, just did it. He knew one of his guys was suffering and he stepped up to help.

Deo is suffering now, and could use any help he can get.

During his visit to the ER, they discovered a cancerous (sarcoma) mass in his spine. Due to the severity of its location. It was determined that Deo would need emergency surgery, and he was airlifted (via helicopter) to North Shore University hospital in Long Island, NY. Where they specialize in these types of surgeries. During the surgery, part of his thoracic spine was removed and fused together. Since the surgery, he has been treated via chemotherapy, but unfortunately another small mass was discovered during follow up scans.

I can't stress enough Deo is one of the best guys on the job, and a guy I was honored to have learned from. He is a good fireman, and a good father. This is an awful awful thing for anyone to have to deal with let alone someone so young. The firehouse organized a shirt off of the Grinch video, the link to buy is below. Please consider helping a guy who's suffering who spent his life helping those who were suffering with a donation around Christmas.

Stay strong Deo.
