The Eagles Offensive Is So Predictable That Christian McCaffrey Is Able To Call It Out Almost Perfectly From His Couch
I already put this clip in a blog earlier today about how broken the Eagles are. But I still can't get over this.
The Eagles are addicted to the QB draw on 3rd down in the red zone. If you asked 100 Eagles fans what play they were about to run there, I'm sure 93 of them would say QB draw. So it's not like Christian McCaffrey is some sort of wunderkind football savant who has this uncanny ability to predict the future. Now being able to pick out the tight end was going to pull definitely puts CMC's brain above your average fan. But all Christian McCaffrey needed to do here was look at this offense, understand how criminally conservative their play calling gets once they get into the red zone, and know everything he needed to know about this play before it happened. And not for nothing, but his call to run it to the left probably would have worked out better.
That's a running back on a team that played the Eagles two opponents ago. If he knows everything this team is about to run, you can only imagine how much the defense on the field knows everything that is coming. Just think about how many times you heard Joe Buck or Troy Aikman say something along the lines of "he recognized that right away" when talking about a Seahawks defender making a play last night. Seemed like every other play.
Is it Brian Johnson's play calling? Is it Nick Sirianni's lack of creativity when it comes to scheming an offense? Is it Jalen checking out of plays, or just not being trusted to make anything happen besides running the ball on 3rd down? Most likely, it's a combination of everything. But this is where we're at now. Predictable, conservative, uninspired, and ineffective.
They haven't scored 20 points total in each of the past 3 weeks, let alone in the first half. Not great!
