Football Announcers Need To Keep Calling Out The Shitty Ref Jobs We're Addicted To Watching
I know we've talked about how bad the refs are in the NFL for quite some time now, but it keeps getting worse and worse. This time we actually have Terry McCauley call them out for getting calls wrong. Do you know how bad you have to be for the replay ref analyst to say you got the call wrong? They do everything and anything to defend their fellow refs. We'll never fix it completely but it's astounding how many times every single week we have something going viral about a botched call.
That's why we need more and more announcers to speak up about it. Sure, we can blog about it, tweet about it and what not. But it's the NFL. We're all addicted to football. We plant our asses on the couch every Sunday and watch every minute of the games. We're too used to shitty refs and that's the bad part. They can just go about getting things wrong and we just shrug before shoveling another wing in our mouth.
I don't even have any idea if this call of incomplete was right or wrong because we have no idea what the hell a catch is anymore. He bobbles it some, regains possession and is out of bounds at some point. But it's the NFL. Every game a catch is different. You see something that looks like a catch and it's incomplete. Then the next throw will be the opposite and it's all good. The bigger point is we need everyone to learn from Terry McCauley and just talk about how awful it is. Aikman did it last week too.
I'm so sick of hearing guys having to protect the shield or scared to call out a refs. We're all watching the same shit. There are egregious calls every single game that swing games. Give me guys like Aikman and McCauley who aren't afraid to disagree and blast them for it. It's what we need right now.
