Woj Is A Loser, Is Now Ruining High School Kids College Commitment Reveals
This isn't a hot, or new, or creative, or original take in any way. I'm not saying something that hasn't been said 1 million times already. But Woj did something again today that reminded me how much I can't stand him. He ruined a high school kids college commitment ceremony. Ruined the whole surprise so people could tweet "WOJ BOMB", and he could pat himself on the back for a job well done relaying information.
Dylan Harper, the #2 prospect in the ESPN class of 2024 committed to Rutgers today. Huge news for Rutgers. Yak Producer TJ is stacking W's lately. Anyways, Dylan Harper and his family were excited to reveal his big decision to the world tonight. Probably one of the biggest moments of his life. He had a whole presentation and everything.
I don't love that he didn't sit at a table with a spread of hats in front of him. Call me a traditionalist, but I like when recruits put on the hats. I like when they pull the fake out where they pick up one hat, pretend to put it on their head, then toss it off to the side before putting on the real hat. That's just good theatre. I also would have preferred him go to Indiana, but whatever. It's his decision not mine. But thanks to Woj, everybody knew what was coming. He couldn't have pulled the okie doke even if he wanted to. Woj stole the kids moment for a tweet. As always, he managed to weasel his way into a bit of information at the last minute so he could let the world know that he knew something was happening 10 minutes before anyone else.
I understand that's Woj's job, but Woj's job is stupid. My job is also stupid. But I know it's stupid. I'm pretty certain Woj thinks he's providing a valuable service to society. In reality, being the first person to break news to the internet provides NOTHING to society. He isn't creating news. He's not a part of the decision in any way, shape, or form. Woj's value to society is letting us know where an athlete will be playing sports, maybe 10 minutes before the world would have found out on their own. It's mind blowing how that's a service ESPN pays these guys millions of dollars.
If I were Dylan Harper, I might have went back on my Rutgers commitment just to stick it to Woj. "Fuck you pal, you want to break my news ahead of time, maybe I'll just change the news. See if schools ever trust you with information again if you're the reason the #2 prospect in all of basketball didn't choose their school."
Can you imagine that? Rutgers would be livid. That would be hysterical. Dylan Harper could have stood at the podium and said, "I'm so sorry Rutgers, I would have loved to be a Scarlet Knight. Unfortunately because of ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, I will be taking my talents to Indiana. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Woj. This is 100% Woj's fault"
That would have ruled. If there are any top commits out here reading this, and you have an opportunity to hit Woj with some fake news... please do that.
Good news is the Harper family is pissed. Ron Harper Jr. is pissed. And Ron Harper himself ever sent a vaguely threatening tweet. Good luck, Woj.
