DK Metcalf Learned Sign Language For This "Standing On Business" Celebration, Only A Matter Of Time Before NFL Fines Him For It
Fortunately for me, I have a couple of teenage daughters so I'm not completely lost on what "standing on business" means. Basically from what I've gathered, it's the equivalent to when a 40-year-old white guy would say something like "stick to your guns". Considering how much money DK Metcalf has given away to the NFL for exceessive celebration fines over his career so far, going out of your way to learn ASL just to break out this celebration certainly falls under the category of "standing on business". Especially when you throw in the fact that he went off last night with 6 receptions for 134 yards and 3 TDs.
It was a sick celebration while playing a sick game in a sick throwback uniform. You want to talk about inclusivity? I don't think the NFL has ever done anything remotely close to as much for the deaf community than DK Metcalf using ASL in a touchdown celebration. Think about how much more awareness for ASL it's going to raise, and how many more people out there are now going to be interested in learning it because of DK Metcalf. Which means that it's only a matter of time now before he gets himself another fine in the mail from the league.
Because if there's one thing the NFL hates more than anything, it's players doing something cool that everybody loves but the league didn't have anything to do with it. Drives those fuckers mad. I wouldn't be shocked if Goodell found a way to ban DK's ASL teacher for life from watching any NFL games. Greedy, evil dickheads.
