A Texas Mom is Fired from Her Sex Educator Job for Being a Sex Worker

It's often been said that "Those who cannot do, teach." Including by me many times before, in blog posts of a time gone by.

Well that is not always the case. Sure, we all had that teacher back in the day who clearly didn't know the subject matter. Maybe their discipline was Home Economics but the only job opening available was Social Studies, so they decided to fake it until they could make it. And it was obvious to everyone they were in over their head and just teaching whatever the textbook said.

But once in a while, if you're really lucky, you'll come across someone in the education system who truly is an expert. Who not only truly grasps all the nuances of a subject, but has real world practical experience they can bestow upon young minds eager to learn. And when that's the case, and the teacher can engage on a personal level, it can be inspirational. Educators like that are rare and deserve to be encouraged.

Unfortunately one just got fired for the crime of being an expert in her field. A professional who knows the ins and outs of the curriculum she was helping to shape (pun intended):

Source - A Texas mom has been fired from her role as a school sex educator after she was exposed as a former prostitute - and allegedly still works as an escort.

Ashley Ketcherside, 38, from Godley, near Dallas, has been removed from her post at Godley ISD over two prostitution convictions in 2012 and 2016.

Known to her current clients as Lola Brea, the teacher now appears to be working as a legal escort with an active website. Escort work - which is where clients pay for company - is permitted under Texas law, while prostitution - selling sex - is not.

Ketcherside, whose maiden name is Ashley Villalobos, was exposed to her employers after parents raised concerns about multiple businesses she said she owned but didn't expand on what they were.

Although there's no suggestion that Ketcherside's current work was illegal or that she posed a threat to children, she was part of the School Health Advisory Council, which recommends health education protocols for students to school boards. …

'I don’t see any community wanting that to be the standard for their school district,' Mary Lowe, from the nonprofit group Families Engaged for Effective Education, told Fox News. …

Lowe told Godley ISD School Board trustee Kayla Lain about Ketcherside's history of prostitution. Lain said she was shocked.

'We had no idea what was going on in her personal life. She was always very friendly and personable,' Lain told Fox.

But Lowe's tip-off was confirmed when Lain looked the employee up on LexisNexis and found one of her email addresses matched the escort contact for 'Lola Brea'. …

Lola Brea's images are on several public websites and many are too racy to include in reports.

There's so much to unpack here, so let's take things in order.

First of all, I'm not sure we should be comfortable with the great state of Texas' approach to people paying for sexual favors. Making prostitution illegal but escort services legal just smacks of elitism to me. Not everyone can afford thousands of dollars a night to have some super attractive younger woman be their plus-one to a function at the country club just to make their ex-wife jealous. Sometimes you're just a trucker long-hauling a load of corrugated steel roofing plates from Baton Rogue to Tahachapi and need a quickie to break up the monotony. Both end up in a gentleman's sexual completion. Texas is just playing semantics. As well as catering to the elites. It's like outlawing Uber, but being perfectly OK with luxury stretch limos. You need to do more for the working class who deserve better, Lone Star State.

Second, this is one of those rare times when someone picks an alias that is not nearly as good as their real name. I mean, I get needing a nom de plume to protect her identity, but Lola Brea sounds like a tar pit filled with decayed Woolly Mammoths. Ashley Villalobos sounds like the cute sister of the mysterious, sultry cabbie who picks up Bruce Willis after the fight and says, "Buenos noches, Butch."

But Ashley Ketcherside might be the best name she has. There's not a man or woman on that School Health Advisory Council who at some time or another didn't say, "Ashley? What I wouldn't give to ketch HER side."

But we're actually here to address the issue at hand. Which is what kind of education do the people of Godley ISD want for their children? One based on theory, conjecture, abstract concepts, shaped by people who don't know what they're talking about? Or by someone who has been out there in the real world, actually putting everything she knows to practical use? Someone who can offer a world of knowledge, based on her quite literal hands-on experience.

Lola Brea has had a successful career in sex work. She knows what it takes to please a client. She's spent long evenings pretending to be charmed by some social awkward Claims Adjuster in town for a Insurance Seminar and happy to be away from his frigid, asexual wife. She's been with powerful CEOs who just want her to be a mother figure to spank them and then make a cuddle puddle. She's seen it all. And rather than just keep all that expertise to herself, she's been willing to bring it to the masses. And yet it's the kind of people who probably have less than 1/10th of one percent of her knowledge who will now set the educational agenda.

Good luck with that, Godley ISD. And good luck to your students. All Ashley Ketcherside wanted to do was help. And once again you've proven that no good deed goes unpunished.
