Factually Correct Opinion: It's Okay For Sixers Fans To Be Fully Invested In Rooting Against James Harden For The Rest Of The Season

The Sixers, much like the Eagles, are 8-1 to start the season. They're currently undefeated in NBA In-Season Tournament history. Tyrese Maxey just had the first 50-point performance of his career.

There are plenty of reasons right now to focus solely on what is going well for the Sixers, and the rest of Philly sports, right now. It would be easy to tell folks to stop caring about shit from the past and just move on with our lives. We have a ton to be optimistic about right now, and we shouldn't bother ourselves with dickhead losers who were actively dragging us down before.

With all that being said…

It's so fun to watch James Harden suck to start off his stint with the Clippers. It brings me and immense amount of joy to watch him immediately destroy that team from the inside out. I know the Sixers have won 8 games in a row after dropping their season opener. I get that Tyrese Maxey is having a breakout season, and now has the ability to reach his full potential without James Harden dragging him down. I get that Embiid seems happier and more energized now than ever before. But we should still be allowed to relish in the Clippers' misery without being bombarded with comments about James Harden owning real estate in our heads and shit like that.

Sometimes rooting against a certain player or team can be equally as fulfilling as rooting for your own team. That's what makes sports so great. There aren't many areas of life where you can really take joy in the suffering of others without coming off as a total piece of shit. But in sports, it's encouraged. Watching this sequence is supposed to fill your heart with delight as a Sixers fan.

I'm not saying you should care more about James Harden sucking than you should about the Sixers being the most unbeatable team in basketball right now. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't be afraid to embrace that hatred. Being a hater is arguably one of the most fun parts about being a sports fan, but for some reason people act as if they're above it. Let go, and let hate in.
