It's Incredible To Think One Of The Most Important Shots In Sixers History Came From A OKC vs HEAT Game In 2020

Hmmm. So former 76ers C Mike Muscala drops back to back 3-pointers playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder to beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Bubble. Cool beans, for sure. Always fine to see a big man drop a few from deep to win a ballgame. So what? Right? We're all the correct assumption anything that occurred in the NBA Bubble, excluding Jimmy Butler making zillions selling overpriced coffee out of his hotel room, didn't happen. Lakers Championship included, obviously.

Well, something did happen. In fact, this happening is one of the most identifiable Butterfly Effects in the current professional sports landscape. For reference, the Philadelphia 76ers owned the Oklahoma City Thunder's 2020 protected first round draft pick. The protection involved picks 1 thru 20.

This win ensured OKC would select 21 overall. And who did the Philadelphia 76ers take with that pick? The Freshest Prince himself, Tyrese Maxey.

Amazing. What's even more incredible is the fact Maxey fell that far to #21...thanks to Covid. I firmly believe if the 2020 March Madness wasn't cancelled Maxey would've absolutely BALLED for Kentucky in the tournament. There's no way Maxey would've survived down to #21 in the draft if that happened. Nope. Dude would've been easily Top 10 if The Dance went down. Even so, and revisionist history is everything, but Maxey is a surefire top 5 pick with Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, and Tyrese Halliburton in the 2020 NBA redraft. Maybe even #1...

Whatever. It all works out for the best. Even Maxey knows.

Thank you for bullying me into reality in early 2022. And thank you, Mr. Morey, for not selling the farm for Dame. In Maxey We Love.

Thank you, Tyrese. The Sixers are currently 8-1 with both Maxey and Embiid receiving MVP consideration early in the season. Love it. Now do me a favor and CUE IT!
