Mission Impossible's Next Blockbuster Movie Is Being Delayed a Full Year And Will Not Be Called 'Dead Reckoning - Part 2'

Spoiler alert: Pretty simple, don't read the blog if you want to see Dead Reckoning Part 1, but haven't done so yet. I don't know why you're clicking this blog if you have any interest there, but maybe you just wanna remind me I'm balding and to wish my death arrive sooner rather than later. Fair. Still don't think you care about the words in the blog then, but alas here's your warning.

I've never really given much thought to the SAG-AFTRA strike until I heard the news above. Now I'm furious. The fact that I have to live another year and a half to see if Ilsa Faust is alive is fucking outrageous. MDW 2025? I'm distraught.

We also got more news with the franchise that the upcoming 8th installment will not be titled 'Dead Reckoning Part Two' even though the previous film was Part One.

If I'm going to be honest, I don't really care what the title of the movie is. It does create an awkward situation with the Blu Ray DVD release next week and how the first one was called 'Part One', but that's minute compared to the movie release getting pushed back a full year.

The making of 'Dead Reckoning Part One' encountered setback after setback thanks to good ol' covid. Then they decide to release the film one week prior to the Oppenheimer/Barbie blockbuster tandem that took America by storm. The end result was a bomb at the box office financially. The movie still kicked ass though. If you're a fan of the franchise and saw it you most likely came away smiling from ear to ear. I loved it so much that I bought the digital version off of Fios the other day so I could rewatch anytime I want. I've never done that in my life.

The airport scene in the beginning of the movie is so, so good.

As I stressed when I originally blogged my reaction, the big shocker was Ilsa Faust's death. At the time I didn't want to believe and I'm still in the same boat. Hell I joined the Mission Impossible reddit just to see the daily arguments over what people thought actually happened. I'm still inclined to believe she's alive and this is the team's way of beating the entity, but who knows. Is it possible they just royally fucked up one of the best characters in the series? McQuarrie and Cruise wouldn't do that to us.

The fact that this won't be revealed until May 2025 is unfathomable. That might as well be a fake date to me. Waiting sucks. I'm an impatient, stubborn man. The only hope is that with the extra time they 1) make sure they don't go up against a generational release date that swallows every American's wallet collectively 2) give Rebecca Ferguson plenty of time to film her scenes because she's not dead.

Until then…
