Arizona News Station Comes To Citizens Bank Park For NLCS And...Whoops! Turns Out There Are No Diamondback Fans In The Building
Listen. I'm willing to give Arizona fans the benefit of the doubt here. The capacity at Citizens Bank Park is listed at 42,901. The total attendance from last night's game was documented at 45,412. So I find it hard to believe that out of a ballpark that was 105% filled, not a single one of them was an Arizona fan. I'm sure that at least 7 or 8 of those guys sneaked their way through the gates before opening pitch last night.
With that being said...
They probably all left the moment this ball left Trea Turner's bat in the bottom of the 1st. You certainly wouldn't be able to blame them. Back-to-back nights with the Phillies jumping out to an early 1-0 start after a home run in the 1st? I'd want to get a head start on beating that traffic out of the Philly Sports Complex, too.
I'm just glad that Fox10 in Phoenix stuck with it, though. I've said it before and I'll say it again--being in Citizens Bank Park in the month of October is like a drug. It's intoxicating, and you never want to leave. This on-site reporter could have easily just packed it in once he did a few laps around the concourse and couldn't spot a single Dbacks fan. But he didn't want to leave. Probably lied to his producer and said they'd be able to find someone, the live hit went to him and...nothing. Incredible moment in live television history.
Sidenote: I have a feeling you're going to see a shit ton of Philly fans invading Arizona later this week. I know you can always get a great deal and cheap tickets on Gametime, but this is just laughable. It's legitimately cheaper to go to the game at Chase Field on Thursday than it is to park in Philly.
You're not even getting standing room tickets for a potential game 6 in Philly for less than $400. Spend a couple hundred bucks on the round trip flight to Phoenix, $17 to get into game, and you're still saving enough money to go nuts at Pizzeria Bianco while you're down there. Home field advantage knows no bounds in Red October.
