ESPN Cut Away From The No. 6 High School Football Team In The Country Driving Down A Touchdown With 30 Seconds Left To Show An NBA Preseason Game
This is genuine insanity. ESPN showed the first 47 minutes and 30 seconds of 6-0 Buford against 6-0 Mill Creek just to leave the game with the No. 6 team in the country driving for the potentially game-tying (or winning) score to make sure nobody missed the tip of a Warriors-Lakers PRESEASON game. This is every meme about the NBA and sports media come to life.
Look, if the football game was already decided and y'all really want to show preseason basketball that badly instead of letting the kids have a few more seconds on national TV, fine. And if this was even a regular season NBA game, I'd at least listen to an argument for ESPN leaving a high school football game in favor of the league it pays many millions of dollars to broadcast. But being this hellbent on making sure nobody misses a second of the preseason action is unbelievable.
For those who were not able to make it to the ESPN app in time, 2024 No. 1 prospect Dylan Raiola got Buford inside the Mill Creek 10-yard line but couldn't find a receiver in the end zone on the final play as Buford suffered its first loss of the season.
Looks like it was an awesome finish to a high-level football game. Would have been cool to have it on TV!
