The First Trailer For The Zac Efron Wrestling Movie 'The Iron Claw' Is Here And It ROCKS

The film is centered around the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers from the 1960s onwards that had enormous success, and popularized the iron claw professional wrestling hold. However, they not only had to battle inside the ring, but fight the "Von Erich curse" outside of it.

The wrestling world has a ton of crazy stories, controveries etc and the Von Erich family are basically the Kennedy's of that world. As someone who is only aware of the surface level of their stories, I am really pumped to watch this. Not only is the story great, but the cast is killer. Zac Efron has a weird second level that he can reach and Jeremy Allen White is sneakily one of the better working actors from his generation. Add Lily James (hello) into the mix as well as former LCB interviewee Holt McCallany into the mix and you got a great group on your hands.

It's written and directed by Sean Durkin, who I am not familiar with at all. He's done a bunch of short films and a couple of small movies. He's going to be a mystery for me on a skill level going into it but as long as he is into wrestling I'll trust him. Kevin Von Erich seems to have faith in the project which is also a good sign.

(MovieWeb) “My sons went down there and they did some stunt work for the wrestling part of it, but I have no idea what they’re gonna say. It turns out, Sean Durkin called me and I got a feeling it’s going to be a really good movie. When the boys went down there to shoot this scene, which was in Louisiana, they have built their own sportatorium. They built their own, it’s an exact replica of the sportatorium. They’ve really gone all in on this and when my boys went down there, Kerry [Von Erich’s] daughter was also down there and she’s a friend with Sean Durkin too. Hollie was there, and they were meeting the actors and the guy that is going to play my dad came out there. When Hollie saw him, she immediately cried. She loved my dad so much, all of the kids loved my dad. When the actor saw that Hollie had cried, he started crying. It just said to me that these people are really pouring their hearts into this, they really want to do a good work. If you try that hard, I really think you’re gonna do alright. I can’t wait to see it, I think it’s going to be a good movie.”

I also wanna add that I think they set the 70s vibe perfectly. Beyond the sets and cinematography, hitting Fear the Reaper and transitioning seamlessly into Tom Sawyer? Put that in a funnel and send it right up my butthole, baby.
