The Twins Rolled Out The Red Carpet For Their ALDS Game Against Houston, And Proceeded To Get Spanked By The Astros
This is why I find the Houston Astros so fascinating. They have this innate ability to suck out people's souls. Target Field was electric today for game three of the ALDS. Outside of Philadelphia, the fans at Target Field have been a raucous bunch in the playoffs so far. Most of them left the Ballpark before the game was over today.
I’m speaking here from personal experiences as a Detroit Tigers fan, but few things in baseball are as demoralizing as getting hyped up for a ball game only to have your teeth kicked in before people even sat down. The Twins went all out for this game. They brought back Johan Santana and Joe Mauer for the first pitch. Santana was rocking a Pablo Lopez jersey. It was great vibes. Those vibes did not last very long, though. Houston put up a four spot in the first inning and never looked back.
This is why I need to stand up for myself more sometimes. On the most recent power rankings we did for Barstool Baseball, people on the panel acted like this Twins team was generational. Pablo Lopez shoved in game two. Besides that, this series has gone how I expected. I would be stunned if this thing goes back to Houston. They'vehe Astros have been to the playoffs every year since 2017. They've lost one ALDS game at home in that stretch, and people are acting like it was the end of the world.
I might have to write a separate blog about this at some point, but Yordan Alvarez might be the most terrifying human being on the planet. When that guy is locked in, he is the best hitter in baseball. Right now, he is deep dicking baseballs. The whole “October is a crapshoot“ narrative comes to a screeching halt when you realize that the Astros find themselves in the World Series every year. They still have a long way to go, but right now, they're once again a train no one wants to get in front of.
