Phillies Pitcher Orion Kerkering Has Three Pretty Simple Rules When On The Mound: Don't Be A Bitch, Don't Suck, Don't Break Rules 1 And 2

Inquirer -- When Kerkering first started working with his private pitching coach, Oscar Espada, he was a 15-year-old introvert with good stuff, but not much conviction behind it.

Espada, who is now the head baseball coach at St. Petersburg College, set out to change that. He decided to keep it simple for his pupil. He gave him three rules.

“Rule No. 1 was, ‘Don’t be a bitch,” Kerkering said. “Rule No. 2 was, ‘Don’t suck.’ Rule No. 3 was, ‘Don’t break rules one and two.’”

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I'll continue to say it until I'm blue in the face--nerds have done everything they possibly can to ruin the game of baseball. All these dorks with their calculators and their analytics are trying to complicate a game that really only comes down to two things and two things only. Throw the ball fast as shit, and hit the ball hard as shit. As long as you can do those two things, you're going to be pretty good at baseball. You don't need a masters degree in statistics to know that. The more simple you keep the game, the better.

And it doesn't get much simpler than Orion Kerkering's 3 rules to the game. Don't be a bitch. Don't suck. And don't break rules one and two. Those are the 3 rules it takes for a 22-year-old to make his MLB postseason debut, face 7 batters in 2 games and give up 0 hits.

He just made his MLB debut 2 weeks ago and now he's bullying the best offense in baseball on their home field in game 1 of the NLDS. How does he do it? Simply by not being a bitch, and not sucking. In that exact order.

If anything, those are rules for everyone in life to abide by. If everyone woke up in the morning and just told themselves to not be a bitch and not suck, the world would be such a better place. Think about how many people you deal with on an everyday basis who are absolute bitches. Think about how many people you come across every day who suck ass. Orion Kerkering flat out refuses to do either of those things, and that's why he is a total killer up there at just 22. Honestly those three rules should just be the new Pledge of Allegiance.
