Here Is Your Weekend Streaming Guide. 'Gen V', 'Fury'
1. Gen V (Prime Video)
From the world of "The Boys" comes "Gen V," which explores the first generation of superheroes to know that their super powers are from Compound V. These heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test competing for the school's top ranking.
Like the synopsis says, it's a spinoff of one of the best superhero properties in the game, 'The Boys'. Personally, I was a little wary of this whole thing. There are a lot of series going right now that go out of their way to expand too quickly. To me, I'd rather the head creative minds be singularly focused on making the main product the highest quality possible instead of trying to branch out and make new properties. That said, after watching the first couple episodes, I think I was wrong! It's pretty fun and has the same sort of edge and intrigue as the main series on a lesser scale.
2. Reptile (Netflix)
Tom Nichols is a hardened New England detective, unflinching in his pursuit of a case where nothing is as it seems and it begins to dismantle the illusions in his own life.
The reviews on this are so-so, but a free* whodunnit detective story with Del Toro, Timberlake and Silverstone? It's right near the top of my watchlist without a doubt.
3. Naked Attraction ((HBO) Max)
A controversial dating series in which people see potential love interests whose naked bodies are gradually revealed to them. Then they must get naked themselves and choose.
This show has been making some waves because you see some full-frontal nudity as people search for love. Like most people, I have a curiosity about this sort of thing so I scrubbed through it out without even watching a trailer. There isn't much to it, but you get to see a bunch of weird looking bodies which will help you feel better about yourself. Nuttin wrong with that, Tone.
4. Aliens (Hulu)
Decades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring.
We just did a little Sci-Fi tier ranking and I did some gushing about Aliens. It's still incredible how James Cameron took a revolutionary sci-fi movie, changed the sub-genre from horror to action, and made a movie that was as good if not better than the original. One of the many examples of Cameron being perfect about everything in his entire life (except marriage).
5. Fury (Starz)
A grizzled tank commander makes tough decisions as he and his crew fight their way across Germany in April, 1945.
I normally wouldn't throw something on Starz up here but man is this movie under-appreciated. I rewatched recently and the tension, characters and fight sequences all rock so hard.
