Carson Wentz Getting Rejected By The Jets, Who Suck, Has To Be The Final Nail In The Coffin

I genuinely feel awful for Carson Wentz at this point. I mean not bad enough that I'd want him anywhere near the Eagles. But it's just tough to see how far off the rails his career has fallen.

This guy was leading the MVP conversation in 2017. He's one of the main reasons the Eagles won a Super Bowl after locking up home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That really wasn't all that long ago, but it also feels like a lifetime. And that lifetime has been brutal for Carson Wentz. Lost his job in Philly, lost his job in Indy, and lost his job in Washington. Carson Wentz has always known how to be a good quarterback, but his biggest issue is that he just never learned how to be a halfway decent teammate. There's clearly something there that guys just don't want to be around. That's the only possible explanation for how a guy of Carson's skillset could throw himself at the Jets right now, and their response is still to sign…Trevor Siemian.

The Jets are awful. They banked their entire season on Aaron Rodgers and lost him 75 seconds into the season. At that point the feeling in the room should have been "let's just get someone who is at least somewhat competent out there to try to salvage whatever we can out of this year". Swing and a miss on that one by going into the next 2 weeks with Zach Wilson. He's lucky that a guy named Justin Fields exists or else he'd be statistically the worst quarterback in the league right now. There's no hope for him getting any better, so you might as well move on while you still can.

I get that Carson Wentz has had a rather…tumultuous past few seasons. But there's nobody on the planet right now who can objectively say that he's not a better quarterback than Zach Wilson. There's nobody on the planet who can objectively say that he's not a better quarterback than Trevor Siemian. But if those are the guys who the New York Jets, who are terrible, are going with? Well that says pretty much everything you need to know on the future of Carson Wentz in the NFL.
