It Just Means More: Trent Dilfer Claims An SEC Football Game At Night Is A Better Atmosphere Than The Super Bowl (He's Right)

If we're talking strictly about the atmosphere, he's 100% right here. The Super Bowl is corporate and the SEC. Well, the SEC is like this:

And on and on we go. You're talking about historic stadiums like Sanford, Bryant-Denny and Kroger Field. Of course the atmosphere is better than the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the best and biggest game in football. No one is arguing that. But Dilfer says there's nothing like a Saturday night in the SEC. As someone who has lived in that world, he's right. It was by far the best part of being in college and going back to college as a grown man. Tailgaiting all day, sometimes the night before pending the game. The crowd, the tradition, you can't replicate college football and no conference loves the sport more than the SEC. It's just a different breed.

That said, the most correct thing he said is the Kentucky Derby being the coolest sporting event he's ever been to. I can't stress how much you should go to that once, even if it's the infield. You want to talk about a sporting event that does it right and has everything you want? The Kentucky Derby is that.

Again, no one is arguing about the value of the Super Bowl or anything like that. It's just corporate. It's not the same as an SEC night football game outside of Vanderbilt. They don't count. Although opposing fans just take over that stadium anyways that it's basically a home game. But you're not topping the atmosphere of a night SEC game.
