Michael Lorenzen Threw A 124 Pitch No-Hitter And Has Since Completely Fallen Off The Rails Straight Into The Shitter

Hey kids, remember just over a month ago when Michael Lorenzen tossed the first no-no at CBP since Doc in 2010 and was the greatest mid-season acquisition in the history of sports? That was fun!

Good times! Nobody could predict a downfall, right? No, bloggers on 162-week Maternity Leave don't count:

A career high 111 pitches going into the 9th (I get it, but come on, Topper, might wanna save that wing for Oct) and Sir Michael Lorenzen goes 1-2-3 to secure the No No.

Since the no-hitter Lorenzen and has done dick. Less than dick. He's been dickless. And last night was the worst of it being cut clean off.

Here was Lorenzen's sequence of his 37 pitches out of the Arm Barn:

1B. Steal. 1B. BB. BB. 2B. BB. Sac Fly. Toast.

Not good, Mike. Not good at all. And his overall stats since the No-Hitter are obviously just as concerning.

Even WITH those first two dominant starts where Lorenzen gave up only 1 run in 17 innings he still has a 6.02 ERA since the trade. Impressive. But that's what happens when you give up 54 baserunners in just over 26 innings since the No-No. Opponents are also hitting .351 with a 1.041 OPS against him over that time.

Giphy Images.

OK. We all knew Michael Lorenzen wasn't the Ace-like-Ace with Cy Young shit like he showed over his first two starts for the Phillies. He's also thrown an already career high 149 innings. His previous high? 113 1/3 innings. In 2015.

Oh boy.

Now Lorenzen been pushed to the bullpen/arm barn (the right move for this rotation imo even if he was still pitching well) so we'll see if he can start to turn it around because, well, the Phillies really fucking need him to turn it around.

11 games left. Magic Number: 8. First WC spot essentially locked up, but let's get on a little heater and go into these playoffs with all the momentum required for another run, please. Red October is upon us and it's time to get going in South Philly.
