The Trailer For The New A24 Film "Dream Scenario" Looks Like The Ultimate Nic Cage Experience

Whenever I write about newly released trailers, I often come on here and say, “Yeah, this looks pretty good, “ and I do mean that. But in this particular case, I want to hammer that point home. I think this movie looks awesome. It is near the top of my most anticipated films for the rest of 2023. It looks like the perfect A24 movie. It’s trippy and funny, but it’s also original and bold.

Man, I just love that we are seeing something of a Nicolas Cage resurgence. I've written about it before, but there's some to be said about an actor who is impossible to compare to any other actor. There is no Nicolas Cage type. There is only Nicolas Cage. That recent movie "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent," was essentially a love letter to his weird acting style. While I thought the movie was just okay, he was excellent in it. It was really great to see him having fun again. It looks like we're getting more of that in "Dream Scenario."

I love the premise for this. I'm fascinated by dreams, and I feel like making a movie that revolves around them can lead to some really unique imagery. The basic premise seems to be that Nicolas Cage keeps showing up in everybody's dreams, which is ironic because I feel like that's been happening in real life for the last 20 or 30 years.

I feel like there was a period of time in which people were legitimately tired of Nicolas Cage. He had a rough run in the late 2000s, picking some really dumb projects. I like the "National Treasure" movies, but he did some crap like "The Wicker Man," which is one of the funniest movies ever made, even though it wasn't meant to be a comedy. It just seemed like he was phoning it in for a while. Over the last several years, he's come alive and really given some career-defining performances. He was robbed of an Academy Award nomination for his performance in the movie "Pig." Cage himself said he thinks that's the best movie he's ever done. I don't know if I agree with that, but it's definitely among his best performances.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but A24 is a studio that releases almost nothing but bangers. If you are in an A24 movie, your chances of getting awards hype increase quite a bit. I bring this up because the possibility of Nicolas Cage getting nominated for an Academy Award again makes my heart swell. Maybe this will be the movie that does it. It seems like the perfect role for him.
