I'm Liking A Few Road Dogs Today With Our Gambling Picks

RECORD

69-115-2 (-2.6 units)

We are officially not back. Yeah, I wasn't crazy about yesterday's board. I only put out two plays, but they both backfired in my face. I liked the idea of sprinkling Marlins money line as home underdogs. That didn't work. The Dodgers offense did what they do best, and that's dominate pitching staffs. I put some money down on Isaac Paredes to go deep against the Mariners. Early on, I knew that that was a bad tbethat. Luis Castillo got into some trouble, but I like him too much as a pitcher to bet on an opposing player to go deep against him. That was irresponsible on my part. Thankfully, we got a full slate of games today, and I like the board that we have. Let's take a look at today's picks.

Brewers ML (+105) against the Yankees

Man, this line doesn't make much sense to me. I know the Yankees have been playing better lately, and they are playing at home. That said, Luis Severino has been one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year. I know that the Achilles' heel of the Milwaukee Brewers is their offense, and I'm not going to act like Colin Rae inspires a ton of confidence in me, but I feel like this is really good value as a road underdog. The Brewers have a phenomenal bullpen that's able to shorten games. If they can get to Severino early, it could cause a lot of problems for New York. Milwaukee is in a tight divisional race. They need this one.

Padres ML (+110) against the Astros

I didn't plan to bet on multiple road underdogs today, but that's the way it worked out. I'm not surprised that the Astros are favored here. This could be a trap, but Blake Snell has been on a phenomenal roll over the last several months. If the season ended right now, he'd be in line to win his second Cy Young award. Command issues and all, Snell has found a way to keep runs off the board all season. I like Hunter Brown and think he will become a really good pitcher, but he's had his issues in the second half. Houston also bizarrely has had some troubles at home recently. They just had a dominant series on the road against the Rangers, but right before that, the Yankees swept them at home. Snell has been in a groove for a while. I think that continues tonight.

Ronald Acuna Jr. to homer (+400) against the Pirates

I find myself stunned by the value here. I swear that Ronald Acuña, Jr., goes deep every day. He had a two-home run night last night. There's a rumor circulating that Mookie Betts might be dealing with an injury. If that's the case, Ronald Acuña better make some room for his future NL MVP award in his trophy case. He's had 12 plate appearances in his career against Mitch Keller, but he's collected three hits, including two home runs. This future Hall of Famer is having the best season of his career so far. He's about as locked in as any player can be. I think he stays hot tonight and takes Mitch Keller deep.
