The Boys Spinoff 'Gen V' Comes Out This Month And Looks Every Bit As Bloody And Insane As The Original

'The Boys' blew Amazon Prime's doors off a few years ago as the bloodiest, funniest, goriest, and most batshit insane superhero show these eyes have ever seen. From A-Train running directly through Hughie's girlfriend (brutally murdering her in the street), to the ass-bomb inside Translucent, to Popclaw literally riding a man's face until his head exploded and The Deep getting fingered through his gills, that first season truly blew my mind and expanded what a superhero show could be in most of our eyes.

Through three seasons, they've built on that foundation beautifully, and developed their universe into one of the best and most unique in the history of superhero media - and now comes the next step for 'The Boys': spinoffs!

'The Boys Presents: Diabolical' was a little animated spinoff that came out last year, but 'Gen V' is the very first live action spinoff from the world of 'The Boys' - and it looks fucking awesome….

The 'Gen V' concept is very simple and familiar to us nerds: it's 'The Boys' - but in school, X-Men style. 

Instead of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, it's Godolkin University School of Crimefighting - and it's run by the lunatics over at Vought International. Take all of the sex, gore, violence, and drama from 'The Boys' and inject a little 'Degrassi' into it, if you will, with all the supes in training.

Clancy Brown plays Richard "Rich Brink" Brinkerhoff - described on Wikipedia as "a renowned professor at Godolkin University" - and his inclusion in the series has me STOKED because he's lowkey favorite actors. Yeah, he's Mr Krabs, but he's also Captain Hadley and showed a pretty sinister dark side in the rebooted season of 'Dexter' (which wasn't bad!) and could bring this show to new heights in my opinion. He could definitely be the Giancarlo Esposito of it here.

Plus, I'd have to assume we'll get a couple cameos from characters we know and love (or hate) from 'The Boys'. 

Maybe there's a big threat that requires their help, or maybe they're just brought in to give an assembly speech to the students or whatever. Regardless - I'm sure it'll be handled well, because the 'Boys' showrunners have an impeccable track record thus far.

'Gen V' premieres September 29th - so if you're lookin to catch up before then, get on it quick!
