Game Notes Countdown To The NHL - #27 Anaheim Ducks
NHL Team: Anaheim Ducks
Division: Pacific
Conference: Western
2022-23 Recap: The Ducks might have led the league in Sportscenter's top 10 goals but they have a lot of work to do. The team has a ton of exciting talent like Zegras, Terry, and McTavish, but couldn’t figure out the right way to play on an everyday basis to win in the NHL. The easiest way to explain how the Ducks season went … Started 1-7 and ended the season with a 13-game losing streak which earned them a top 2 pick that turned into Leo Carlsson.
Biggest Loss: Kevin Shattenkirk - Veteran D-man has lost a step but was still a valuable leader for the young core to learn from.
Biggest Addition: Alex Killorn - Comes over from a winning franchise and understands how to play the game the right way. The Ducks needed a tough forward who could do the dirty work for the high-flying young squad. Net front presence on the PP will get him plenty of points.
2023-24 Outlook: The poor results last season resulted in a coaching change so, expect the Ducks to play a more disciplined game under Greg Cronin. Killorn, Gudas, and Carlsson will help the Ducks climb out of the basement in the Pacific.
Player To Watch: Trevor Zegras - Still not signed but I think he gets a small bridge deal done during camp. Arguably one of the most skilled players in the NHL and is dangerous all over the ice. A lot like Jack Hughes last season, he needs to take a step forward and continue his march toward the top of the leaderboard. If he does this he will get the long-term deal he is looking for and that is not based on his pathetic performance in the Sandbagger.
2023-24 Season Bet: Under total team points 66.5 -115, Cronin will help but, $EBR will still be betting the over in Ducks games on a regular basis.
