We're Looking To Finish The Week Strong With Our Gambling Picks

RECORD

66-107-2 (-1.5 units)

Not a great day yesterday, but we avoided disaster. For the first time in forever, I'm having a difficult time getting a gauge on this Astros team. Sometimes, they look like world-beaters, and sometimes, they'll play like they have over the last two days. The Astros never lose to the Yankees, yet they've dropped back-to-back games at home. Mark Canha had a really good game for Milwaukee yesterday, though he failed to go deep, so we didn't hit on our home run prop. The Orioles came to the rescue. They smacked around the Diamondbacks and helped us salvage the day by covering on the run line. We're hoping to finish this week strong. I'm not really in the mood for any long soliloquy. It's the final month of the season. I could use a really good gambling day. Let's take a look at today's picks.

Mariners -1.5 (+110) against the Mets

Road dogs have been pretty good to me this year. The Mets have started to show a little bit of life lately. It is the definition of too little too late. But they've called up some young prospects recently, and those guys have provided something of a spark. George Kirby is going for the Seattle Mariners. I don't know if there's a more underrated pitcher in baseball. He has tremendous stuff, but even more importantly, he has impeccable command. His walk rate is incredibly low. I think he's going to pound the zone and overwhelm the Mets lineup today. It's weird to say this about a team that's only been to the playoffs once since 2001, but this Mariners team is experienced. They made the postseason a year ago and retain so much of that young core that helped get them there. They're not just playing for a postseason berth right now. They're playing to win the division. They need a big start from Kirby today, and I think they're going to get it.

Diamondbacks -1.5 (+150) against the Orioles

Man, +150 for a Zac Gallen start feels like a bargain. Jack Flaherty is on the mound for the Orioles. I think he's been very unimpressive since the Orioles traded for him. He's not an awful pitcher but he does not move the needle. I'm not even an Orioles fan, and I'm still mad at them for not being more aggressive at the deadline. The fact that Flaherty was the best they had to show for that deadline is an embarrassment. As I said, Zac Gallen is going for the Diamondbacks. He's had a sensational season this year, and he has really good numbers at his home ballpark. The Diamondbacks need this one with Gallen on the mound if they want to stay in the playoff race. Considering how good the value is, I had to jump all over this one.

Gary Sanchez to homer (+600) against the Giants

There were several good home run props for today, but I decided to go with this one, and I think my logic is pretty sound. Gary Sanchez has been bizarrely effective for the San Diego Padres this year. I just don't understand that team. How is it they got Gary Sanchez to turn the clock back four years, and yet they're still out of the playoff hunt? It's baffling to me. Alex Cobb is pitching for the San Francisco Giants. Cobb is having a really good year, and he's coming off of one of the best starts he's ever had, in which he only gave up one hit against the Cincinnati Reds. But he threw over 130 pitches. We're getting late into the season. Cobb is in his mid-30s. I could see him coming out and looking a little bit gassed today. Sanchez's numbers against him are also really good. In 13 plate appearances, he's collected four hits, including two home runs. I think the Padres are going to try to ambush Cobb early. Hopefully, Sanchez can take him deep.
