The Legendary Jimmy Buffett Has Sadly Passed Away

"I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead."

Absolutely gut-wrenching news as we've lost an absolute titan of the entertainment world.

There are very few (I wish I could bold, and underline that 100 more times) public figures, not just entertainment figures, who sit in the same bubble of being "universally loved" quite like Jimmy Buffett.

He transcends the great music that he has made for years.

A staple of American pop culture.

You could only wish to be as .01% as cool as Jimmy Buffett when holding a guitar, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, drinking a margarita, or even just sitting on the beach.

I mean hell, I am not sure anyone is as synonymous with so many of life's simple & perfect pleasures, such as the beach, quite like Jimmy Buffett.

Escapism, personified.

You didn't need to even know that much about him to just see how much LIFE this guy has lived over the years, and the enjoyment he has taken out of it. Even in search of a picture for this blog, every photo of him included a wide smile or laugh, and if it didn't, it was because he was laser-focused on playing music.

From his Big Eight songs from the 1970's, to "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere", all the way through now, nobody represented the idea of a "great time" or "good vibe" quite like Buffett.

To steal a comment from our very own PFT Commenter, the guy wrote a smash hit song about a cheeseburger. Want to know how many other people could do that with the same level of magic? Hint: none.

Even as recently as May, amidst health struggles, Buffett said in a Facebook post that "Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you," and how "overcoming [challenges] is what makes life meaningful."

For one man to infuse so much joy, happiness, and positivity into the world through entertainment is just incredible.

So, in honor of Jimmy, try and find some sand this weekend, cling on to a margarita, and let's all enjoy living life to the fullest it can be, just like he would.

"Some people never find it, some only pretend. But me, I just want to live happily ever after, every now and then."

Rest in peace, Jimmy…
