Here's Something You Probably Haven't Seen Before: An Umpire Getting EJECTED From A Baseball Game

I didn’t even think that this was possible. Umpires are a tight bunch. It takes a lot for them to turn on each other. You have to do something really shitty to be an umpire who is ejected from a baseball game by another umpire. I tried doing something of a deep dive into this, and the details are pretty scarce. It’s clear that a player was ejected from the game. Anyone who watches the video can see that. I don’t know what league this was in. I don’t know what led to that particular player getting ejected, and I sure as hell don’t know what the reason was for this empire flipping shit on this guy.

Umpires getting pissed off and getting in the face of players is not a foreign concept. I feel like we see it every year. Sometimes, umps cross the line. But this is the first instance that I can recall of an umpire not just physically making contact with a player but, by the looks of it, physically assaulting a player. The ump landed a jab right in the guy's rib cage.

The deeper this goes, the more I'll provide updates about what led to this exchange. I'm genuinely curious to find out. But this is why all umpires need to be mic'd up. I need to know what was said here. I need to know what led to this confrontation. I don't know why baseball is so hesitant with that stuff. One of the greatest clips in the history of the universe is a Terry Collins and Tom Hallion going at it from 2016 after Noah Syndergaard was ejected.

Also, considering this clearly wasn't a Major League game, what's the next step after this? Is there a backup umpire for circumstances like this? This opens up a whole can of worms for me. If umpires can now get ejected, are we going to see teams trying to bait certain umpires into throwing temper tantrums? Can a player or manager file a motion for an umpire to get ejected? It makes sense. If a player can be insubordinate, why can't umpire? My brain is in a pretzel thinking about all this. I'll try to provide further updates when more details come out about this very bizarre situation.
