No Shot The Rams Are Good This Year After Hearing Matthew Stafford Got A 'Book Of Faces' Made To Figure Out Who The Hell His Teammates Are
[Source] - “It’s kind of crazy. So Matthew’s been in the league a long time. He’s like ‘The difference in the locker room has changed so significantly.’ They have a lot of rookies on their team, they’re very young. But he’s like ‘I feel like I can’t connect. In the old days you’d come out of practice, you’d shower, and people would be playing cards, interacting... But now they get out of practice, and meetings during training camp, and they go straight to their phones,” said Kelly.
“They say ‘Sir’ to him and sh**. He’s like ‘No, we’re on the same level here, we’re both playing in the league. Let me get to know you.’”
I get that Stafford is a fellow old and the Rams have a million young guys on the roster. But, uh, you can't have this get out there. You can't let the world know your starting quarterback has no idea how to talk to the young guys and had to get a book made just to figure out who the hell they are. It's not that hard to talk to guys, even if they are buried in their phones. Just ask them some basic shit and then move along like every other co-worker in the world.
Seems simple, just start talking while they are on their phone. Make them look up. Hell, invite them to go golfing, drinking, whatever. That or just throw it to Cooper Kupp 42 times a game. Tough to tell what Stafford will do. But there's never been a moment where Stafford sounded older and more washed than having to get a book made of faces. Not a Facebook, a book of faces.
If anything Stafford should talk to our beloved Clem. If he can bond with Bob Fox and a near 20-year difference in age, surely Stafford can find something. I mean, look, this is the ideal bonding with an age gap:
I wouldn't even care if I'm a Rams fan. You still won a Super Bowl recently, that's all that matters. You get the grace period and can scream about the Stafford trade and everything else working out because you got one. That's all you gotta care about. Hell, maybe that's what Stafford should do. Just toss his Super Bowl ring on the phone to get attention.
All I know is I'm out on the Rams this year. Can't have your quarterback making a book of faces this close to the season.
