Jerry Jones Says He Wanted To Draft Jalen Hurts, And The Dallas Cowboys May Never Recover From Passing On Him

The world is always going to be a better place with Jerry Jones in it. Because I'm almost certain that there's nobody out there who hates the Cowboys as much as Jerry Jones hates the Cowboys. It seems like every decision this old bastard seems to make ends up causing a catastrophic shit storm in the Cowboys locker room. Like the fact that he went out and traded for Trey Lance without telling a single soul he was about to make the move. Didn't consult Mike McCarthy. Didn't give Dak Prescott a heads up. Trey Lance just showed up to the facility one day and these guys thought they had a joint practice with San Francisco coming up.

I love every decision that Jerry Jones makes because I know that senile maniac is inevitably going to put that team in a worse spot. But sometimes, the most hilarious decisions that Jerry Jones makes are the ones that he doesn't actually make. Like passing up on Jalen Hurts on each of their first 2 picks in the 2020 Draft. Something that is clearly still eating him up inside.

Now to be fair, I think CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs are both unbelievable players. It's not like they completely whiffed on those picks or anything. It's not like the Chicago Bears drafting Mitch Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes. But Jerry Jones hates the shit out of Dak Prescott. All he's ever thought about since the moment Dak came into the league is how he can get somebody else in there. This man was out here saying that there wasn't going to be any drop off when Cooper Rush went in at QB1. Cooper Rush. That dude is awful, and Jerry Jones was ready to permanently glue the clipboard to Dak's hands for Cooper Rush.

So the fact that he "wanted" to draft Jalen Hurts and could have finally found his MVP-finalist franchise quarterback to get Dak out of there, but he never got a chance to call his name? Well that's just as sweet as it gets. At least Ben DiNucci fell to them with the 231st pick.

Anyway, any time you can trade for the future replacement for your current franchise quarterback and also publicly say you wish you had a division rival's quarterback in the same weekend, you have to do it. Banner weekend for the Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott relationship.
