The Korean Zombie Goes For Broke Against Max Holloway And Pays For It BIG TIME - Then Retires

I'll be honest - I didn't think The Korean Zombie had any chance of putting up a competitive fight against Max Holloway this morning.

I just believed Max (fighting for Hawaii after the devastation there this week) was so many levels above him at this point - and knowing that this was likely Zombie's final fight, I just thought he'd have a bit of that foot-out-the-door mentality that so many bring to their retirement bout.

I'm happy to declare myself an idiot and a moron, however, for underestimating a man named THE KOREAN ZOMBIE - who just put on an absolute show and went out on his shield against Max Holloway.

From the moment The Cranberries hit for his walkout, you could feel the weight of the moment for Chan Sung Jung....

....and he carried that energy into the octagon with him and brought the fight to Max Holloway with ZERO fear or trepidation.

He rocked Max, Max rocked him, and for two rounds - we got everything we could ask for outta this fight. It just felt like a classic, prime Korean Zombie scrap. TKZ even got dropped so badly he shoulda been done - but due to Holloway not following up and believing the fight was over, he recovered in an undead-like fashion and escaped a choke that seemed like a sure thing....

In the third round, Zombie ran outta his corner as ferocious as ever - throwing wild haymakers in attempt to take Holloway's head off and bait him into a firefight - and Max made him pay for it pretty quickly….

Max knocked out Chan Sung Jung brutally here, while he was still mid-combination, and sent him flying into the canvas at 1000mph with that shot. I mean - seriously! Have you ever seen someone hit the canvas so hard?! Holy fuck!

As expected, The Korean Zombie announced his retirement and left his gloves in the cage after the fight - putting an end to one of the greatest and most entertaining careers in the history of the sport….

Very few fighters that never held a championship have captivated audiences like Zombie did - and he went out exactly like he came in, leaving it all out there in his final fight. You've just gotta love that.

Even though he got knocked out - and BAD - this still oddly felt like a storybook ending for the guy….

THANK YOU ZOMBIE!
