I love this Phillies team. I really do. They're an easy group to root for. They're fun, they're good, and they know how to make it interesting. I mean, sure, it would be great if they could ever really stick their foot down on this wild card race and pull away from the rest of the pack. But that wouldn't be nearly as exciting as making every game feel like a must-win.
But if there's one thing that worries me about this season, it's this moment right here.
Trea Turner hits a 2 RBI walk-off single, the Daycare comes out to get him a little wet during his post-game interview, and Brandon Marsh is courteous enough to offer Trea Turner a delicious treat. A piece of jerky. But not just any beef jerky. This is some premium wagyu.
Some guys get a granola bar. Other guys get a honey stinger. Trea Turner was presented with some wagyu beef jerky. It's decadently rich in flavor. It's velvety smooth in texture. Even if you're dehydrating it to turn into jerky, wagyu beef still has so much intramuscular fat in there that it's going to melt in your mouth. It's a snack fit for a king.
The fact that Trea Turner turned it down and threw it to the ground? Well that gives me a slight hesitation heading into the rest of the season here.
