Nothing Sums Up Soccer In England Like Fans Throwing Haymakers On The Field All Because Of A Tie
Nice little Saturday afternoon over there in England huh? Now fair is fair. You run on the field to celebrate a goal, you better be ready to throw some hands. Gotta protect the house. In this case, nothing sums it up more because this 96th minute goal was to tie it up. Shocking, I know. A whole lot of ties in soccer, part of the game as annoying as it can be.
But this isn't about the goal. This is about the two fellas who decided to handle each part properly. Throwing haymakers at each other, not connecting and then breaking it up. Only thing missing was shaking hands for a good attempted scrap. I don't know why you'd rush a field in this scenario. We're talking about the 4th match of the season. This isn't a promotion or anything like that, just a regular ass Saturday tie between Chesterfield and Oldham.
I do love the reaction time from the Chesterfield fans though. They weren't having any of it with opposing fans rushing the field. The dude in the red shirt and hat had one intention, throw a punch. He's pushing his own guys out of the way to get on the field quicker. He wasn't going to sit back and not attempt to be the hero.
Late goal, match stopped a few minutes early because of the mayhem and missed punches. Saturday in England is different.
