In Honor Of College Football Returning This Week, Let's Debate The Greatest Team Ever: The 2001 Miami Hurricanes vs The 2019 LSU Tigers

This is one of the best debates in all of sports. I wish EA Sports would give a gosh damn video game so we can make these two power houses play each other 100 times to find out who was the better team, but unfortunately EA is a bunch of cock suckers and we don't. So I will present both sides of the coin here and give you my take on which team I think is better.

The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are the epitome of college football dominance. Led by head coach Larry Coker, this team was loaded head to toe. This is a team you did not want to fuck with. They had 17 guys make it to the league which resulted in an undefeated 12-0 season and a National Championship victory over Nebraska. The Canes were renowned for their suffocating defense, featuring future NFL stars like Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and Jonathan Vilma. If you ever get bored go look up Sean Taylor and Ed Reed highlights when they played for the Canes and let me know if you would want to line up in front of those guys.

Ken Dorsey wasn't the best NFL Quarterback but man was he a fucking beast at Miami. It would be hard not to be considering the fact he was throwing the ball to guys like Andre Johnson and Kellen Winslow II. You combine those guys with a backfield that consisted Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee and Frank Gore, as a defensive coordinator you have no shot.

2019 LSU Tigers:

The 2019 LSU Tigers, orchestrated one of the most remarkable seasons in college football history. In my opinion they had the greatest offensive of all time lead by Heisman-winning quarterback Joe Burrow, LSU obliterated numerous records on their path to a perfect 15-0 season and a National Championship victory over Clemson. Burrow's connection with wide receiver's Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson was nearly unstoppable. Think about this for a second, Justin Jefferson, was the #2 WR at LSU. As of this moment, he is the unanimous best WR in the NFL. Just let that sink in. This LSU team had a top 5 QB in the NFL, and 2 of the best 3 WR's in the NFL on the same team. I will never forget what they did to Oklahoma in the College Football Playoffs, they made them look like a D3 school for the deaf and blind. It was an absolute massacre.

The Verdict:

Having to pick between the 2001 Canes and 2019 LSU Tigers is like a parent having to pick which child they love more, it's almost impossible, but I think I have an answer. It's a saying as old as time, and the reason it's still said to this day, is because it's true. Defense wins championships.

I’m sorry but I can’t bet against a defense that contains; Sean Taylor, Jonathan Vilma, Antrel Rolle, Vince Wilfork, and Jerome McDougle. LSU has a slight edge on offense but Miami’s can compete. At the end of the day they did have Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Willis McGhee, Andre Johnson and Kellen Winslow. It’s a tough call but I'd have to give it to the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.
