Seth Rogen's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Is A Funny, Exciting, All Around AWESOME Movie For Ninja Turtles Fans Young And Old Alike (Spoiler-Free Review)

I didn't think I'd be blogging a spoiler-free review about a Ninja Turtles movie this week, mostly because I had no damn clue there was a Ninja Turtles movie in theaters. I imagine that's because there are more strikes taking place in Hollywood than a typical Shohei Ohtani start (nice SPORTS reference, Clem!) that doesn't allow the talent to promote the film.

Nonetheless, I had to put this movie on peoples' radar because I took my kids to see it this week and everybody in the theater loved it. The kids. The parents. The two adults that showed up in Ninja Turtles gear from head-to-toe that was kinda weird but also kinda endearing, which I hope continues the trend of people dressing up for nostalgic movies that started with the pink wave for Barbie.

Anyway, everything about Ninja Turtles ruled. The cast full of A-list actors where you will say "Oh shit, I know that voice" (Here's the IMDB link for people that want to see it instead of being surprised after watching but the choices for Splinter and Superfly were especially incredible). The easygoing humor. The delicious nostalgia tidbits. The oddly lovable villains. And the soundtrack that is full of great old school hip hop that actually fits perfectly in every scene where it is played.

I know saying something like this seems extreme considering how well-received they were, but Mutant Mayhem is made in the same ilk as the Spider-Verse movies that I clearly LOVED, and is well worth its 97%(!!!) Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Robbie and I talked more about Ninja Turtles as well as the incredible HBO docuseries Telemarketers, some great Apple TV+ shows, and rumors of Johnny Sins being cast as Lex Luthor in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie.

Also for people that have already seen the movie, my guy Heavy Spoilers did a great breakdown of the Easter Eggs from the movie as well as where the franchise will go from here considering it has a series coming on Paramount Plus along with the obvious sequel that is going to make bank.
