Legendary Mayor Absolutely Refuses To Stop Drinking And Smoking With The Boys In The City Garage
Fox8.com - The East Cleveland mayor said he works hard all week — so if he wants to drink alcohol and smoke in the city garage, he can and he will.
The mayor released a statement after the FOX 8 I-Team obtained video showing Mayor Brandon King and other employees drinking alcohol and smoking in the city garage on a Friday night last month.
What have we become as a society? There was a time the Friday night garage beer was a sacred activity. After a long, hard week of work you and the boys get together and crack open a few cold ones and shoot the shit. It doesn't matter if it's the garage at your work after you drop off the trucks or the garage at your house with your slightly annoying neighbor who you are kind of forced to be friends with, those beers just hit different.
It's just guys being dudes and blowing off a little steam. Nothing wrong with that.
Unless of course you are the bitch ass I-Team who is hell bent on turning every little thing into a controversy. I understand your entire job is predicated on clicks and outrage but take that shit down the street, sweetheart. And I'm glad Mayor Brandon King isn't backing down to this bullshit.
“So, if I want to wind down a six- or seven-day work week by having a Guinness stout (not beer) and smoking a cigar in the garage, after hours, with staff, residents and stakeholders and discuss the dysfunction of our legislative body or the revitalization opportunities that are before us or international politics, no policy or media outlet is going to stop me,” King’s statement reads in part.
Fuck yes, Brandon! Immediate re-election for this guy. Hell, make him the kind of East Cleveland for all we care. The fact he even wants to be affiliated with what is statistically one of the worst cities in the nation is reason enough to let this guy shotgun beers on top of moving cop cars if he wants.
If you are not familiar with East Cleveland it is one of the saddest stories over the past few decades in America. It has lost nearly 50% of its population since 2000 alone, owes 10s of Millions of dollars in judgements from police that went completely rogue, and has so many abandoned houses and apartment buildings it looks like a third world country.

So if Brandon King is willingly working on trying to improve this city then I ask you once again what the hell are we doing bothering him about some garage beers and a few darts with the boys at the end of the week? If this guy wants to to hire strippers and do blow off their ass on the front steps of city hall he should able to. That's technically creating jobs and getting drugs off the street in one fell swoop.
We need to stop trying to find a way to bring every single person in power down and open our eyes to the fact some of them deserve a little buzz for the bullshit they put up with on a daily basis. This guy is manning the helm on a ship that has been taking on water for 20+ years and we care that he throws back a Guinness with the fellas?
Give me a damn break. And give Brandon a break too, he deserves it.
