Fan Chen-Jun Is The Newest LLWS Star After Pitching An Immaculate Inning And Hitting A Home Run During Chinese-Taipei's Combined Perfect Game
What in the name of Danny Almonte was THAT?!? Good Lord. An Immaculate Inning during a combined perfect game against the best little league an entire country has to offer at the LLWS is some crazy shit. I know people will say that there was a ball mixed in there but that number 21 clearly offered at the pitch, as you can see here:
Before getting blown away swinging through one at his eyes.
On second thought, maybe Almonte isn't a fair comp considering he was allegedly a grown ass man playing against kids. I guess Fan will have to settle for being compared to the greatest pitcher on the planet (***when healthy).
Actually, why stop at the best pitcher on the planet and just go with the best player on the planet since Fan went full Ohtani on Canada by dusting them on the bump and dropping bombs on them at the dish?
Will someone tell Uncle Stevie to hold off making whatever obscene offer he plans to send Shohei Ohtani for a bit? Because locking down a 29-year-old monster that can pitch and hit for at least half a billy is cool, but locking down another one before he becomes a teenager for a fraction of the price is a much savvier move. I'm not sure how the international signing rules work for Little League players. But Stevie has never been one to let the rules hold him down and this mamaluke sure as shit ain't gonna stop him.
Sorry, my baseball season went from rooting for a World Series contender to rooting for kids whose Minor League highlights I see occasionally on Twitter. So let me dream of watching Fan Chen-Jun become the Mets Babe Ruth in a decade or so.
P.S. Look at how Chinese-Taipei reacted to a combined perfect game on the biggest stage in their sport.
Strictly business. I'm sure Rico LOVES that.
