A Group Of People Recreated The Viral Ferry Brawl Video And It Should Win Short Film Of The Year
RA blogged this fight yesterday absolutely perfectly and I have nothing to add other than it is a Must Watch for anybody who somehow didn't watch it yet. There have been plenty of brouhahas posted on the internet and covered on this here site. But there was something special about what went down on that Montgomery, AL pier over the weekend that just had it feel like an instant classic video.
Apparently a bunch of people hanging out by their pool on a summer afternoon agreed because we got a brilliant recreation a day after it was putting up ridiculous numbers on the internet.
Here I thought Oppenheimer was going to be the best film I watched from 2023 based on real life events. But for as great as Christopher Nolan's genius was along with the All-Star cast, Oppie didn't have shit on the ferry fight when it came to humanity teaming up to fight evil. Cillian Murphy may win the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Death, The Destroyer of Worlds. But Black Aquaman won the hearts of millions for swimming into danger to help an outnumbered security guard out. My only beef with this masterpiece is that it never gave us the chair shot as the dude smiled at the camera, which has spawned countless memes.
Between this fight video, the memes from Jose Ramirez dropping Tim Anderson, and the "That Motherfucker Is Not Real" girl being found, the internet is on an all-time heater over the last 72 hours. I am almost ready to declare the internet #BACK even though it hasn't gone anywhere. But you have to admit it did get a little sticky there during all the political mumbo jumbo over the last decade or so along with the nonsense that came out of the pandemic with crypto, NFTs, and a bunch of other bullshit.
But in the end, water seems to have found its level now that we are back to posting elite videos of people fighting and losing their minds. I hate to give him any credit because he's a boob, but you have to admit that the internet renaissance taking place after Twitter got renamed X. Maybe Elon knew what he was dong all along.
Okay, probably not. But I can't wait to see what type of viral gold gets dropped on our screens today. Stay hot, internet!
