We're Up Almost 4 Units This Week! Let's Stay Hot With Today's Gambling Picks

RECORD

35-56-2 (-4.2 units)

I'll tell you what, this has been a good week. We went to 2-1 yesterday. Freddie Freeman failed to go deep despite the Dodgers scoring double-digit runs. I'm not going to lament that too much. Home run props provide a lot of value. As long as the data is good, I won't complain about not hitting on that. We won the other two bets. The New York Mets are a dead team right now. The Orioles took advantage of it. I didn't consider that James McCann was coming back to haunt his old team. I wouldn't have put any money on him to drive in runs, but it was a factor as to why the Orioles ended up running away with that game yesterday. And the Astros did to the Yankees what they've done many times against the Yankees over the last eight years or so, they went into Yankee Stadium and shut them down. We're up 3.8 units this week. No one is going to throw a parade, we still are in the negatives in terms of units, and the record is pretty weak, but I'm starting to see improvement. As I said, this was always meant to be a journey of self-discovery. We're on the right track, even though I'm not a big fan of today's board. Let's take a look at today's picks.

Braves -1.5 (+105) against the Cubs

I've been one of the people who has been adamant that Bryce Elder has been headed toward regression for a while. I have been proven correct over the last month or so, but with this Braves offense, it doesn't matter. The Cubs were playing fantastic baseball coming into the series against Atlanta, and they got devoured yesterday. The Cubs will presumably use Javier Assad as an opener for this ball game. He's only started one game this season, and while his ERA is pretty solid, I can guarantee he has not faced a lineup as powerful as Atlanta's. The Braves are the best team in baseball. Every time they seem to slump a little bit, they will just destroy an opponent. That's what happened yesterday at Wrigley. I think that continues today.

Mariners -1.5 (+125) against the Angels

Don't look now, but the Seattle Mariners have been playing some pretty gritty baseball lately. Thanks to some clutch hitting, they've won back-to-back close games against the Los Angeles Angels. They have George Kirby on the mound this evening. I like George Kirby. I think that he has Cy Young potential. Despite their very eventful deadline, the Angels seem to be entering one of those typical Los Angeles Angels spirals they can't escape. Tyler Anderson is on the mound for the Angels. He's been better over the last month, but he's failed to recapture the magic that made him a very effective pitcher for the Dodgers in his All-Star season a year ago. I think the Angels are demoralized. Very few teams are worse at getting off the mat than they are. If they end up dropping another one to Seattle, this thing may start to derail. I'm going with Kirby tonight.

Jarren Duran to homer (+600) against the Blue Jays

The logic behind my home run prop is pretty simple, 90% of the time, I base it solely on how that particular hitter matches up against that particular pitcher. Jose Berrios has had a good year for the Blue Jays. It's been a nice story, as he was a disaster a season ago after the Blue Jays gave him that extension. Jarren Duran is his kryptonite. In eight career played appearances, Duran has four hits, including two home runs. Berrios's career numbers at Fenway Park are ugly. He has a 5.67 ERA in six career starts, allowing 1.6 HR/9. He's had a good career, but the ball tends to fly when he takes the mound at Fenway. Hopefully, it flies for Duran today.
