Apparently You Can Just Slap A Runner's Hand Off The Base To Get An Out Now, MLB Replay Is A Joke
Seriously why do we even have replay if this is what it's used for? There isn't an umpire on earth outside of Angel Hernandez that would watch Tim Anderson quite obviously knock Brayan Rocchio's hand off the base on purpose and then call him out. They got it right on the field, so why the fuck would they overturn this?
It's not like Rocchio's momentum took his hand off the bag. Anderson stopped, wound up, and then slapped his hand off the bag like he was training for Dana White's Power Slap League. The Guardians still went on to win but it's such an insanely terrible call it's been bothering me all morning.
Good for Tito for getting tossed here but he shouldn't have even had to. Don't they know Tito has a back ticker? And despite what delusional and angry Guardians fans think we need Tito to stick around for as long as possible. What manager do you think the Guardians are going to be able to get after him when they have a cheap ass ownership group who spends next to nothing on the roster?
Tito is a player's manager and we know what happens when you make a managerial change. They go the complete opposite way. And they'll want a guy who is cheap and knows the division. There is only one guy I can think of that fits that billing...
Besides that we need as many players to get hot as possible if we are going to take down the mighty AL Central. Rocchio just got called back up and that would have given him a 2-4 night.
Some people, like Chris Castellani who roots for a team that is 8 games back in possibly the worst division in MLB history, think the Central is just bad. He thinks no one from the Central should be allowed in the playoffs.
But what he calls a steaming pile of horse shit (my words not his), I choose to call "highly competitive". Just more like in the way a 6-year old t-ball game can be competitive even though every kid on the field runs after every ball like a giant swarm of bumble bees.
But that's still competition, baby! And the Guardians still have a chance even after quite obviously throwing in the towel at the trade deadline. So quit overturning calls, the Guardians have made this season hard enough on themselves. They don't need the league office's help too.
