Now Would Be The Perfect Time For The Rock To Return To WWE
This weekend, the WWE's second biggest show of the year, SummerSlam, is going down at Ford Field in Detroit. It'll be headlined by a grudge match between real-life cousins Roman Reigns and Jey Uso, where the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be on the line, but the symbolic title: "Head of the Table" means a lot more to this storyline than the physical leather and gold.
The "Head of the Table" label represents who is currently at the top of the food chain in their multi-generational wrestling family, which includes some of the greatest talents to ever step foot in the squared circle, and Roman Reigns has been at the "Head of the Table" for years now….
I don't expect that to change on Saturday night, either - I'm almost positive sure we're in for another Roman Reigns win to close the show for the third year in a row. It just isn't the time for this historic title reign to come to an end - I still think that should be saved for WrestleMania 40 in April, and that Cody Rhodes should be the one to dethrone him.
You know how the WWE could pull a fast one on us and sneak an ALL TIME surprise into this event, though? Give ol' Dwayne Johnson a call.
The Rock hasn't necessarily had the best year of his career, as many folks online have been quick to point out….
….but you know what he could do to get "BACK" and change the narrative in a heartbeat? Return to the WWE at SummerSlam.
Everyone on Hollywood is currently on strike anyway, so it's not like he's working on any movies any time soon; it seems like the timing is perfect!
I'd have Roman Reigns defeat Jey Uso in a brutal match on Saturday night, and then have him continue the beatdown afterwards - maybe with Jey's brother Jimmy handcuffed to the ropes, forced to watch. Then, after a series of multiple Spears/Superman punches/kendo stick hits/chairshots/etc, Reigns lifts Jey to his feet one more time for the killshot, and "IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLL….WHAT THE ROCK….IS COOKIN" hits….
Roman Reigns turns around stunned, The Rock comes down the aisle for a quick Rock Bottom/People's Elbow combo, and he grabs the mic to say there's only one "Head of the Table" in their family, and it sure as shit ain't Roman Reigns.
This keeps the Bloodline storyline fresh, extends it for another couple months very easily, and sets up a Roman Reigns vs The Rock program for Survivor Series/Royal Rumble if you wanted to take it there. It'd probably be the biggest moment they've had all year as far as crowd pop/social media reactions/everything - and like I said earlier, the timing seems perfect.
Let me know who you think in the comments below….
