I'm Riding With Trio Of Playoff Contenders With Today's Gambling Picks

RECORD

28-51-2 (-8 units)

We had ourselves a split decision yesterday. I saw the Yankees getting smoked coming from a mile away. Tyler Glasnow was dominant, and while I expected Domingo Germán to be starting for the Yankees, he came out of the bullpen for reasons that are still confusing to me. Going against the Yankees might be smart for the remainder of the season, especially when they face good opponents and Gerrit Cole isn't on the mound. I put a lot of faith in the San Francisco Giants. Alex Cobb was slated to pitch. He did not. That was not the reason they lost, though. They failed to cover, losing an extra innings to the Diamondbacks. We were up 0.2 units yesterday, so I'll call it a minor success. The last week or so has been good for me. This is the second day in a row where I'm not crazy about the board. With that said, let's take a look at today's picks.

Rays -1.5 (+145) against the Yankees

Yeah, I'm doubling up with this one. Carlos Rodon is going for the Yankees. He's been way better lately. I ultimately think that signing is going to be a good one for them. He just had to get the injury issues out of the way, though he has had quite a few throughout his career. Even though I like him on the mound, this is a watershed moment for the Yankees. Pending some crazy huge deadline, I think this Yankees team is legitimately not very good. They are in last place for a reason, and they will stay there. The Rays have started to look more like themselves over the last week. Tyler Glasnow was great last night, and tonight they have Zach Eflin going, who, despite getting rocked in his last outing, has had a fantastic season, despite struggling on the road. Things have been pretty ugly in the Bronx for a minute, and it will get uglier.

Blue Jays -1.5 (+160) against the Orioles

It's been well-documented that I love this Orioles team. The Blue Jays have been on my shit list a few times this year but they keep bouncing back. But I like the value here with the Blue Jays at +160. Kyle Bradish is going for Baltimore. He has been excellent this year as an anchor for the Orioles. He faced the Blue Jays once this season and completely shut them down. Hyun-Jin Ryu is returning to the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays. You never quite know what you'll get from him, even when he's healthy. As much as I typically like to do a deep dive into the numbers, this game is one of those instances where I just pick up a vibe with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays need this one. Bo Bichette left the game with a knee injury last night, and this team simply cannot afford to fall any further back in the standings than they already have. This is a massive week for them. They got off to a bad start yesterday, but that offense will not get shut down for the second night in a row.

Astros -1.5 (+110) against the Guardians

I'll keep this one short. Framber Valdez has not looked like himself lately. That makes me slightly concerned about the Astros in the future, but for them to be at plus money on the run line is a very positive sign. It would not shock me to see the Astros' offense get red hot down the stretch here. Yordan Álvarez is back, which means he's also back to punishing baseballs. Cleveland could end up backing into an American League Central Championship, but they will not help their case tonight. I like the Astros big.
