LoanDepot Park Used This Weekend's Tigers-Marlins Series As An Opportunity To Take Shots At Detroit
This isn't good for the brand, but I'm not someone who blindly comes to the defense of Detroit sports team over everything. I'll be honest; I hate the slogan "Detroit Vs. Everybody." It's "Detroit Vs. Everybody" because all four of our professional sports teams suck ass. It's Detroit versus Detroit, and sometimes they can't get out of their own way. Go ahead if you want to take a shot at the sports teams. Don't take a shot at the city. Detroit has indeed lost over 65% of its population since 1950. This is ironic because 65% is probably the best at LoanDepot Park can hope for at this point because their fan base about is apathetic towards their team as Frank Fleming is about seeing the "Barbie" movie.
Congratulations Miami, you filled up your park for the WBC. You have a team that is in the middle of a playoff chase. Yet, the best crowd you've gotten during the regular season game in six years was this weekend because it was an opportunity to celebrate Miguel Cabrera's retirement tour. You should be on your knees thanking us. We last had a good team 10 years ago, yet somehow, we kept your park relevant this weekend. Some people live in Miami and don't know that Miami has a baseball team. They won two World Series by accident and promptly traded their entire team. No one gave a shit. Do you hear that silence? It's the sound of nobody in Miami talking about the Marlins.
I also need to mention it from a graphic standpoint; nothing about this makes any sense. I like Matt Vierling, but he's been playing in Detroit for less than one entire season. I believe that he's not responsible for Detroit's loss in population since 1950. As someone who proofreads his blogs three times yet still constantly makes spelling and graphical errors, I should probably be the last one to point out that the powers that be at LoanDepot Park didn't even use the right form of "its." Detroit's lost 65% of it is population since 1950. Did DeSantis pass a bill not to teach grammar in Florida, either?
I try and fail sometimes, but I try to be nice. I believe in the purity of baseball. I'm petty as fuck, but I'm not necessarily hateful. With that said, fuck the Marlins. I was rooting for y'all for a second. They have some good players. But now, the goodwill is dead. I look forward to next year when you hit the reset button for the fifth time in the last two decades and trade all your good players following a 79-win season.
