Joe Burrow's Annual Offseason Adversity Has Struck After He Was Carted Off The Practice Field With A Calf Injury

Don't think it was even an hour after posting this lovely quote from Joe Burrow's latest press conference:

...That another bizarre, ridiculous plot twist took place. What have the Cincinnati Bengals ever done to the football gods to invoke this type of nonsense? Can we get Joe Burrow through one normal fucking offseason please!?

Noteworthy that I scooped the pro sports doc fancy Twitter X Social Media Platform guy with my assessment of the situation by two minutes.

FIRST!! FIRST!!! FIRST! LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME! FIRST!!

In all seriousness, thankfully it appears the absolute disaster scenario was avoided. Nevertheless, I'm so troubled by this. Let's recap all the strangeness that's gone on since Burrow entered the league in 2020.

First off, the COVID-shortened offseason program, pre-draft hoopla and starting Week 1 for a team that just had the No. 1 overall pick? Wasn't enough of an uphill climb already. Burrow's knee gets shredded in the middle of the season. Joe says, "Fuck it, I'm gonna be back in time for the start of next year." And he was. Led the Bengals to an AFC championship.

Oh cool. That'll probably do as far as freak injuries/ailments for a good long while. NOPE. Exploded appendix during last year's camp. Rusty thereafter. Two losses to begin the season. Burrow STILL takes the Bengals to one three-point loss away from the Super Bowl without three of his starting offensive linemen.

And here we are today. The key is for Burrow not to rush back. I'm having PTSD flashbacks of Kevin Durant in the NBA Finals returning too soon from a calf issue, then proceeding to tear his Achilles. Feel like it's happened multiple times. Being the competitor that he is, Burrow will want to get back ASAP. Obviously I want him back ASAP. Just hoping this apparent calf strain isn't so severe that it knocks him out for extended time, as in into the regular season. The AFC is fucking loaded and you need every game you can possibly get for playoff seeding purposes.

I don't know what else to say. This is a bummer. If you're a fan of a rival team or other Super Bowl contender and you're laughing at this horrendous development, get a life.
